Happy Monday! I hope everyone is enjoying some nice spring weather. :)
This week’s installation of MY FAVORITE THINGS is all about fresh flowers. These were actually left over from a styled photo shoot that I did on Saturday evening. Let me tell you….it was so much fun! Everything came together…..and even the weather cooperated. I’ll be blogging about that session soon.
It was really important to me to include fresh florals in my styled session. They are one of my favorite things. And rightly so! God is such an awesome Creator, and He spared no expense when it came to flowers. The colors and the variety out there are amazing!!! It’s been said that “a flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it. It just blooms.” We can learn a lot from that. Often, I find myself looking to others to know what to do. And then I wind up comparing my work/decisions/success to them. Instead, I need to focus more on being who and what God wants me to be. And just bloom. That, of course, is easier said than done.
I brought home a couple of the arrangements from my styled shoot. The florals in the image above were part of a gorgeous tablescape. They were too pretty to toss. And now they keep catching me off guard in my home because they are out of the ordinary. It’s funny how we get so used to seeing the stuff in our normal surroundings….to the point that we pretty much don’t notice a lot of things anymore. I think part of the intrigue about flowers is that they don’t last forever. They are to be enjoyed for a season. That’s part of what makes them so special.
My favorite flowers are peonies, roses, wisteria, and black-eye Susans. I’m sure you can understand why I mentioned the last one. :) What are your favorites?
