Each Monday I get to talk about one of my favorite things. And since it’s been SOOO cold lately, this is the perfect time to talk about how much I love mochas! At first, you may have thought my picture above was coffee with a lot of cream. But, no, it’s a mocha!
By definition, a mocha is a coffee beverage flavored with milk, sugar, and cocoa.
Before I go on about mochas, I know you’re wondering where I got this adorable mug. It’s part of the Pioneer Woman collection at Wal-Mart. The price was very reasonable, and it has held up well. Plus, I love how BIG it is–> enough for a generous portion. :) And sorry about the cell phone pic. It’s a bit grainy.
I have to confess that I never used to drink coffee. But, several months ago, my husband (who loves coffee) introduced me to hot mochas. The first kind I had was a mocha latte made by Gevalia. They make wonderful K-cups (for Keurig). They come as a two-part set. First, you pour the chocolate powder into an empty mug. Then, you brew the K-cup provided. Magic. I add a bit of sugar, of course. These are so easy and fast to make in the mornings.
I’ve also branched out……When Troy brews a pot of coffee, I’ll use milk to make about 1/3 of a mug of hot chocolate. I’ll then add coffee and sugar. I actually like these better, but the Gevalia K-cups are more convenient, of course.
In addition, I’ve experimented with making gourmet flavors:
To make a salted caramel mocha, I’ll add a pinch of salt and caramel sauce.
To make a chocolate cherry mocha, I’ll add maraschino cherry juice. I’ve been looking for cherry coffee syrup, but I haven’t found a bottle of it yet.
I’ve also discovered a really nice white chocolate syrup that I’ll add in sometimes. It gives it a sweet, smooth texture.
What do you think……..What should I try next???
