I love trying new things!!! One of the brand new things for Susan Dixon Photography in 2016 is a weekly post called “My Favorite Things.” I could explain what it’s going to be about…..but I think it’s pretty obvious, right?
<—-I DO want to qualify that the things featured in this segment may or may not be photography related.—->
Those who know me personally are already aware of the fact that I don’t typically wear a ton of makeup. Don’t get me wrong. I almost always wear makeup in public. I just don’t use A LOT of makeup all at once. I’m a “natural” kind of girl. So most of my eye shadow is brown. Or beige. Or tan. Or camel. Or fawn. Basically brown, brown, and more brown.
A couple of years ago, I decided to purchase Urban Decay’s Naked Basics. Followed by a purchase of Naked2 Basics. I LOVE these sets. It’s been said that Urban Decay Basics are the gateway drug into high-end eye shadows. It’s pretty much true. They’re high quality and last forever!
A few weeks ago, I was “Christmas shopping” at Ulta. I had a 20% off coupon, and I really wanted to get something high-end that wasn’t, well, brown. I needed color. And I found the most adorable collection in the Too Faced section: Too Faced Country–Nashville Nudes.
Now I know what you’re thinking–it’s called nudes. Sounds kind of like brown. But it has color! And the shades have the cutest names, like “y’all”, “Dolly”, “Bluebird”, “Rhinestone”, and “Famous in a Small Town”. Too cute! All in a sweet, old-fashioned looking tin. Perfect!
This set is designed to have three basic “looks”, but you can mix and match to your heart’s content.
And the timing of this couldn’t have been better, because I actually went to Nashville over Christmas break. I’m also a fan of the show, Nashville. I love it when random things connect like that!
Too Faced Country also has a sister pallet called Rock N Roll. Maybe that will be my next purchase. You never know…..
