Happy Monday, everyone! Today, I’m very excited to share with you one of my brand-new favorite things: Write the Word Journal // Volume III by Lara Casey. I first found out about it on Instagram back in January. I hadn’t been following Lara for very long, so I totally missed volumes I and II. Volume III was available for preorder last month.
At first, I wasn’t really sure what it was. After reading the description, I was intrigued. Basically, it’s a beautifully bound journal that’s organized in two page spreads. On the left side of each entry, there’s a place at the top that says “TODAY IS” followed by a gold foil box below. Writing the date would be the obvious thing to do. However, as Lara explained at the beginning of the book, I can write whatever I want. Like “TODAY IS A GAME CHANGER!” The next box reads “I’M GRATEFUL FOR” followed by another gold foil box. Each entry contains the reference for a different verse (or verses) from the Bible. The idea is that one is to write out the verses. (Hence the title, Write the Word Journal.)
I think this is a really neat idea. It makes me really think about the words as I write them, as opposed to just reading the verses.
The entire right side of each entry is entitled “On My Heart Today” (again in beautiful gold foil). Sometimes I write what I think about the verses. Other times I write more about something I’m going through that day. Often I write about how the verses relate to what I’m going through at the moment. God is pretty awesome; you’d be surprised how often the verses are exactly what I need to hear that day.
I have another daily devotion that occupies my time 4-5 days a week. So I’ve been using the Write the Word Journal // Volume III mainly on the weekends. I really like it! I’m not one to keep a daily journal or a diary, but I like recording my thoughts in a beautiful book.
And the good news is that, once I finish this volume, I should be able to go back and pick up the other two. These are great resources for anyone wanting to grow in his/her faith!
