Normally, I am a portrait photographer. But when my husband and I attended a recent Phil Keaggy concert at Murray Hill Theater, I knew I had to bring my camera along. Phil is one of my husband’s favorite singers of all time. (And I think he’s pretty awesome, too!) Troy has been a fan for years, and he has been able to attend several of his concerts. Phil Keaggy is a Christian artist based in the Nashville area, and he put on a wonderful acoustic set in Murray Hill.
Honestly, several weeks passed before I could edit the images I captured. (I had a REALLY busy fall; editing sessions for clients came first.) Upon working with the files, I was really pleased with the images. Typically, concert photography is challenging because of the darkness in the audience and the quickly changing lighting situation on stage. I originally edited the images in both color and black and white. For this post, elected to show the monochromatic images. It’s much more emotive, and I feel like it went with the mood of the concert.
